Poem
NO TIME FOR WAR
No time to question why,
no time it's the law,
no time for asking why,
no time for making war.
No time to ask ourself,
no time for second thoughts,
no time for guessing when,
count down's back to naught.
Once upon a time, a long time ago,
man stepped foot on the moon,
did I read it
in the papers yes,
and I think I was still in school.
I remembered
when the clocks stopped,
the whole world stood and cheered,
for the time it took to realise,
the work was back down here.
We pray for world peace,
but forget what went wrong on this land,
our thoughts lend to power
yet we forget our fellow man.
I see this world of ours
suffering to the strain,
yet we send our space
ships high
but let our children starve in pain.
Yes we do pray for world peace,
but still wonder who'll make the first move,
will
it take a long time to die
and will it come too soon.
I remembered when
the first bomb dropped,
the whole world shed a tear,
for the
time it took to realise,
in war we have to fear.
